Our practice in Japan is focused on assisting Japanese trading houses, contractors, engineering firms and financial institutions with the development and financing of a wide range of energy, power and infrastructure projects in Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia. For projects in those markets, the participation of Japan Bank for International Cooperation/Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (JBIC/Nexi), coupled with strong support from the national and local governments in the country in which the project is being developed, remains almost essential, not only to plug significant funding gaps, but also to provide structuring and other strategic support to projects that might otherwise not make it to market.
